A PHONE CALL THAT REINFORCES MY COACHING PHILOSOPHY

I had an excellent phone conversation today March 7, 2019, with one of the Top Associate Head Coaches in the nation whom team in the Atlantic Coast Conference. He reinforced my thoughts and my coaching philosophy. He stated with today’s generations of student-athletes it less about coaching basketball but more teaching the off the court issues and teaching our student’s athletes good character. I  explain to him I love basketball because it’s a massive metaphor of life whatever character, discipline, work- ethic you have off the court it’s going manifest itself on the court when the game gets tough!  He ended the conversation by quoting one of this nation most excellent teacher and leader!

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

 Martin Luther King, Jr.
